Getting started with Foglight Capacity Management
Planning for the addition of hosts to servers can be a challenge for IT administrators. Administrators lack the required metrics to properly forecast projected CPU, memory, network consumption, and storage requirements. Monitoring virtual machine environments with Foglight Capacity Management simplifies the planning process and allows administrators to obtain projected and accurate metrics for virtual or physical machine capacity management.
These Release Notes cover the resolved issues, known issues, workarounds, and other important information about the 5.7.4 release of Foglight Capacity Management. Review all sections before starting installation.
This 5.7.4 release of Foglight Capacity Management accompanies the release of Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition 8.7. It includes the following new feature:
This 5.7.4 release of Foglight Capacity Management accompanies the release of Foglight for Virtualization, Enterprise Edition 8.7. It does not include any resolved issues.
These are no known issues specific to Foglight Capacity Management found to exist at the time of this release.
Foglight for Virtualization EE 8.7 includes Foglight Capacity Management version 5.7.4.
Foglight Capacity Management has been replaced with Foglight Capacity Manager. Make sure to install this 5.7.4 release for Hyper-V environments that have installed the previous Foglight Capacity Management cartridge.

Before installing Foglight Capacity Management, ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:

Foglight includes a licensing capability that restricts access to those features that are defined in the license. Any Management Server installation requires a license that grants access to server-specific parts of the browser interface and the features associated with them. Foglight cartridges are also license-protected. While some cartridges are covered by the base Foglight license (such as Foglight Agent Manager cartridges and Foglight for Infrastructure), others may require an additional license.
While Foglight Capacity Management does not require a license, it works with the data collected by Foglight for Hyper-V, and therefore requires that these products are installed and licensed.
To activate a trial or a purchased commercial license:
Foglight Capacity Management 5.7.4 is a software release, and consists of the .car file required for installation on the Management Server and the necessary documentation.
The Foglight Capacity Management release package contains the following products:
